for Solaris x86 10

"Looks neat. Like a productized version of my virtual_adrian script." - Adrian Cockcroft, Author of Sun Performance and Tuning

"Personally, I think that it justifies its cost in no time. How much would it cost to have the likes of Adrian Cockcroft on site for one day? How much would it cost to send your sysadmin to a week-long class on performance monitoring?" - Sandra Henry-Stocker, Co-Author of Solaris Solutions for System Administrators

SarCheck is a Solaris performance tuning and analysis tool and it is also available for HP-UX, AIX, and Linux systems. The Solaris version runs on both SPARC and x86 platforms. Unlike most other tools, it produces recommendations (for both hardware upgrades and kernel parameter changes) and explanations with supporting graphs and tables. You can order a FREE evaluation copy right here. More information about SarCheck can be found further down on this page or on our high-bandwidth narrated product tour, and here are some pages which may be of interest:

We also have a new tool for Solaris systems:

If you've had trouble understanding how to tune your Solaris kernel by setting tune_t_fsflushr, autoup, maxpgio, lotsfree, cachefree, or any of the other tunable kernel parameters, you need SarCheck! SarCheck analyzes your Solaris kernel statistics for possible performance bottlenecks and tells you how to correct them. It also looks for performance problems caused by hardware limitations such as insufficient memory or CPUs. Many performance tools are actually resource monitors. They provide statistics about resource utilization in a variety of numeric and graphical formats, but they leave most of the analysis and interpretation up to you.

SarCheck takes performance tuning beyond the others. Instead of just re-reporting system data and statistics, SarCheck will monitor the output of the sar and ps utilities that come with the operating system and examine the system's tunable parameters and their interaction with each other. Then in a concise HTML-formatted report or plain English text report, SarCheck identifies problem areas including the system's processor (or processors), physical memory or RAM, and disks, and makes recommendations about how to correct any problems that it finds.

Make your system fly with SarCheck! To maintain peak efficiency, use SarCheck regularly and watch how its recommendations change when you add more users, upgrade system components and software, or whenever you detect a change in system performance. SarCheck has been written to be lean and efficient, much like this web site. There isn't a lot of "fluff"... just the information you need to do your job quickly and efficiently, presented in a user-friendly format. SarCheck usually requires less than a megabyte of disk space and uses about one second of CPU time per day!

We are always working with large and small customers to further refine SarCheck's algorithms based on real world experience and testing. By purchasing the SarCheck software subscription, you can be sure that you always have the latest in monitoring and tuning algorithms at your fingertips. SarCheck is a widely accepted product that has been sold thousands of licenses to companies all over the world. Be sure to check out the pages related to our production of graphs!

SarCheck is also available for Solaris SPARC, AIX 4.3+, HP-UX versions 11.00+, and Linux x86 kernels 2.2-2.6.
