PLAISTOW, NH (June 10, 2004) Aptitune Corporation has announced the general release of SarCheck® for Linux. SarCheck is a performance management tool designed to help Systems Administrators learn more about how their systems work and assist them in their analysis of system performance. It translates the output of several monitoring utilities into a Plain English text or HTML-formatted report. It identifies performance bottlenecks, finds runaway processes and memory leaks, recommends changes to various tunable parameters and hardware configurations, and quantifies remaining system capacity.

SarCheck for Linux will examine the operating system, primarily the /proc filesystem and the output of the ps command, to learn how the system's resources are being utilized. The report explains the resource bottlenecks seen and makes recommendations that can improve system performance. SarCheck helps the administrator to quickly diagnose problems remotely and recommends corrective actions. It has been specifically designed with safety and security in mind and will advise, but not attempt to change, tunable parameters or anything else in the kernel.

SarCheck runs on Linux and many popular UNIX platforms. Contact Aptitune Corporation., P.O. Box 1033, Plaistow, NH , USA 03865. Tel.: +1- (603) 382-4200; Fax: +1- (603) 382-4247. More information and examples of reports are available at http://www.sarcheck.com.
