SarCheck is a performance analysis and tuning tool that uses data collected by the Linux kernel and found in the /proc filesystem.
SarCheck produces recommendations for improving performance by tuning linux kernel parameters. By optimizing the kernel for the workload seen on the system, you can get the best performance and throughput with the hardware you have. SarCheck explains the reasons for its recommendations and includes supporting graphs and tables, enabling you to learn about system performance and understand what SarCheck is trying to accomplish. You can order a FREE evaluation copy here. More information about SarCheck can be found further down on this page or on our high-bandwidth narrated product tour, and here is the SarCheck for Linux page. SarCheck is also available for most Sun Solaris, HP-UX, and AIX systems.
SarCheck's analysis engine is an x86 binary. If your Itanium, Opteron, etc. system can emulate an x86 and run x86 binaries, SarCheck should run fine and is efficient enough that its performance should not be a concern, even when run as an emulation. SarCheck makes recommendations for linux kernel tuning, draws graphs, and does things that no other tool does. It looks at CPU, memory, and I/O resources, and also looks at a number of tunable parameters in the Linux kernel. We think it's way more than a monitorinng tool or utility and we hope you'll try it and let us know what you think. Please contact your sales rep for more information or if you'd like to try it.
